Summer Lee strengthened her hold on Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District while Keisha Lance Bottoms cleared a major hurdle in Georgia, giving two prominent Black women victories on the same primary night and setting up high profile contests this fall.
Lee secured the Democratic nomination for a third term in Congress after defeating challenger Will Parker by more than 62 percentage points, according to the Associated Press. The result left little doubt about her standing among Democratic voters in the Pittsburgh area and quickly turned attention to November's ballot.
Across state lines, Bottoms celebrated a decisive win of her own. The former Atlanta mayor captured Georgia's Democratic nomination for governor, finishing well ahead of Jason Esteves and avoiding the need for a runoff. Supporters gathered in Atlanta as race calls rolled in and the outcome became clear before the night was over.
Pennsylvania voters have become familiar with Lee's rise. She made history as the first Black woman elected to Congress from the state and has become one of the best known progressive voices on Capitol Hill. Her latest victory signals that primary voters remain firmly behind her heading into the general election.
Georgia delivered a different picture. Seven Democrats entered the governor's race, yet Bottoms emerged as the clear favorite. Her statewide name recognition, years in Atlanta city government and service in the Biden administration helped separate her from the rest of the field.
November now presents a new challenge for both women. Lee is scheduled to face Republican nominee James Hayes in western Pennsylvania, while Bottoms advances into a governor's race that remains one of the most closely watched contests in the country.
Taken together, the two victories added another chapter to the growing influence of Black women in statewide and national politics. One win came in a congressional district, the other in a governor's race, yet both delivered the same message on election night: voters handed two experienced candidates a chance to keep climbing.

niether will do for black americans!!!! all dnc want illegals!!!
These two women are inherent/vehement anti-Black American racist. If I could post images to show you, I would. Keshia was a mayor of a majority Black city, Summer's district is 14% Black. The one think they have in common, they both didn't specifically do anything for Black American, they both vehemently fought for illegal aliens and gays.
