TAMPA, Fla. — Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold has been charged with kidnapping, armed robbery and conspiracy after Florida prosecutors accused him of directing a violent plot against three men he mistakenly believed had stolen luxury goods and cash from an Airbnb rental in February. Authorities allege the plan unfolded only days after property valued at more than $250,000 disappeared from the rental.

Arnold, 23, surrendered to the Hillsborough County Jail on June 24 before appearing in court by video the following day. Prosecutors are seeking to keep him in custody pending a detention hearing as the criminal prosecution proceeds.

Tampa police allege the reported theft included Louis Vuitton bags, Rolex watches, cash, a Bible and other belongings. According to the Associated Press, detectives later determined the three men targeted in the alleged attack, including Arnold's personal driver, had no connection to the burglary.

Three young men walked into what prosecutors describe as a carefully planned ambush inside a Tampa apartment. Armed suspects allegedly held them at gunpoint, beat them, struck them with pistols and stole their belongings before prosecutors say Arnold arrived while the assault was still unfolding and allegedly directed parts of the attack through a group chat.

Police identified Arnold as the alleged primary conspirator. At least six other people have also been charged, while two women accepted plea agreements and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors, including 19-year-old Jasmine Randazzo, who immediately received a four-year prison sentence.

Lee Bercaw said, "Fame doesn't get you out of criminal charges or our pursuit of justice and holding criminals accountable." State Attorney Suzy Lopez added, "No one has the right to take the law into their own hands. A dispute over missing property does not justify kidnapping, violence or retaliation."

Arnold's attorney told the judge his client "is absolutely denying these allegations." Denise White, chief executive of EAG Sports Management, also said there is "no credible evidence" linking Arnold to the crimes and argued prosecutors are relying on testimony from defendants seeking lighter punishment.

Former Alabama standout and Detroit's first-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft faces charges that could carry a life sentence if convicted. The Detroit Lions and the NFL acknowledged the arrest but declined further comment while the judicial process remains pending.
