Adrian Valdovinos had become a familiar name in Hanford boxing circles, known by friends and supporters as “Angelo” as he worked to build momentum inside the ring. Before sunrise Sunday, police say the young boxer was shot and killed inside a home on University Avenue during a confrontation that ended with two men dead.

Officers responded around 4 a.m. to reports of gunfire at a residence along the 1500 block of University Avenue in Hanford, according to KFSN. Arriving officers found Valdovinos suffering from gunshot wounds inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators identified Vincent Diaz as the suspected shooter. Police said Diaz was the former husband of a woman who was inside the residence when violence erupted. Authorities believe Diaz shot Valdovinos before later turning the weapon on himself in what investigators described as a self inflicted gunshot wound.

Witnesses reported hearing an argument involving a man and woman shortly before gunshots rang out through the neighborhood. Detectives later connected Diaz to the confrontation after piecing together statements from people inside the home and evidence recovered at the scene.

Case remains under active investigation as Hanford police continue reviewing witness accounts and forensic evidence tied to the shooting. Authorities have not publicly detailed what triggered the confrontation or how long the argument lasted before gunfire erupted.

Valdovinos earned growing respect within local boxing circles where supporters viewed him as disciplined, focused, and determined to continue climbing through the sport. Friends described him as someone deeply connected to his community, carrying himself with quiet confidence both inside and outside the gym.

News of his death spread quickly across social media as tributes poured in from fellow boxers, friends, and residents stunned by how abruptly his life ended. Many remembered him not only for his athletic promise but also for relationships he built around Hanford’s tight knit boxing scene.

Violence tied to domestic conflicts continues leaving lasting damage inside homes and neighborhoods across California. In Hanford, grief now hangs over a community struggling to understand how a rising boxer’s future disappeared in the middle of an argument before dawn.
