M.I.A. has filed a federal lawsuit against Kid Cudi, claiming her removal from the Rebel Ragers tour led to death threats, lost income and lasting damage to her career. Court papers submitted in California accuse the rapper and his team of violating an agreement that guaranteed her a place on the road and full creative authority over her appearances.
After being dropped following a May 2 appearance in Dallas, the British artist says the dispute quickly spiraled into financial and personal damage, reported by AllHipHop. Her complaint alleges the decision wiped out earnings tied to a 33 show agreement and eliminated additional business opportunities connected to the concert run.
At the Dallas stop, she spoke about immigration, ICE enforcement, Palestine and her experiences being "cancelled." She also identified herself as a Republican voter, comments that quickly spread across music outlets.
Kid Cudi previously stated that he removed the artist after receiving complaints from attendees who objected to the remarks. He said before the trek launched that he did not want politically charged commentary during live appearances and believed those expectations had been communicated.
The artist rejects that explanation. Legal papers argue the move was intended to generate publicity for a series of dates she claims was struggling at the box office and that her dismissal became part of a promotional effort rather than a response to anything said onstage.
Contract documents cited in the complaint state the agreement guaranteed $2.8 million across 33 dates and granted what she describes as exclusive authority over her sets. She argues those protections allowed her to express personal views during live events without risking dismissal.
Another allegation centers on a $290,000 private event booking that she says disappeared after her exit from the schedule. She further alleges that she and her son began receiving death threats soon afterward, creating what court papers describe as a safety crisis affecting those closest to her.
Live Nation and representatives for Kid Cudi had not publicly responded when the claims were reported. The lawsuit seeks damages tied to the alleged agreement violations and the financial losses outlined in the complaint.

She's made anti-black comments in the past, so it's a wonder he even had her on tour to begin with. I'm definitely not a fan.
