Floyd Mayweather has filed a sweeping civil case accusing longtime associate Jona Rechnitz of helping orchestrate what the boxing champion describes as a years long scheme involving vanished jewelry, fake investment opportunities, unauthorized wire activity, and a missing private jet.

Legal records seek roughly $175 million in damages and name Rechnitz, Ayal Frist, Frist Apex Ventures, and attorney Alexander Seligson as defendants. Entertainment outlet TMZ first reported details tied to the filing, which accuses the men of quietly exploiting Mayweather’s trust while moving cash and high value property through fraudulent dealings.

Personal access allegedly allowed Rechnitz to insert himself into the retired fighter’s business affairs over several years, according to the complaint. Legal papers portray the New York businessman acting as an informal adviser who arranged introductions involving banks, expensive purchases, property discussions, and multimillion dollar money movement.

Major portions of the filing center on jewelry dealings involving Miami businesses and collections Mayweather claims carried enormous value. Roughly $100 million worth of jewelry allegedly changed hands while only about $13 million returned to the former champion. Multiple pieces remain missing, creating one of the sharpest accusations contained inside the civil action.

Exhibits tied to the dispute also reference alleged text exchanges involving possible liquidation of jewelry linked to unpaid balances. One message included in the filing allegedly showed a jeweler discussing plans to sell pieces if money failed to arrive, followed by a short response from Rechnitz appearing to approve the decision.

Additional accusations involve an alleged $7 million investment Mayweather claims existed only through promises and paperwork. Attorneys representing the boxer argue he was persuaded to wire enormous sums into ventures presented as legitimate opportunities before the money allegedly vanished.

Claims involving a missing private jet and unauthorized transfers widened the case far beyond expensive jewelry alone. Public information tied to the aircraft remains limited, though legal records portray an operation stretching across several industries and multiple accounts during recent years.

Rechnitz previously surfaced in national headlines tied to federal corruption investigations and police bribery scandals connected to prominent New York figures. That history now draws added attention toward accusations involving one of boxing’s richest athletes and one of sports’ most recognizable celebrity lifestyles.

No public response addressing the accusations had surfaced from the named defendants as of Thursday evening. Civil fraud proceedings involving wealthy public figures often stretch across years while attorneys seek banking records, ownership documents, contracts, communications, and asset trails.

Mayweather spent years transforming wealth into part of his public identity through private aviation, diamond covered watches, luxury vehicles, towering cash displays, and multimillion dollar purchases showcased constantly online. Now the undefeated fighter is publicly claiming enormous sections of that fortune may have quietly disappeared through people once trusted inside his inner circle.

But willful ignorance is another.
