Dominique Alexander posted a Facebook message he says Jeff Metcalf sent him during Karmelo Anthony's retrial hearings, renewing a bitter exchange between two men who crossed paths at a press conference for Anthony's family last spring.
Alexander, founder of the Dallas-based Next Generation Action Network, shared a screenshot dated Aug. 21 that appears to show a message from an account bearing the Austin Metcalf Foundation logo. Metcalf created the organization in memory of his 17-year-old son, Austin, who was fatally stabbed at a Frisco high school track meet in April 2025.
“Say it to my face. You're a coward. Called you out and you slither away,” the message reads in part. “When the denied ruling is issued you going to have another press conference? I promise to attend. See you around.”
Inside the courthouse, Metcalf had already drawn Alexander's notice. Alexander accused him of confrontational behavior in the hallways and said security personnel appeared to step in at times.
Rather than answer the message privately, Alexander said he posted it so people could judge the words themselves. “I will not give anyone the reaction they are looking for. I will not respond to intimidation with intimidation,” he wrote.
The bad blood between the two men dates to April 2025, when Metcalf showed up unexpectedly at a Dallas news conference for Anthony's family. Dallas police asked him to leave, and Alexander called his presence “a disrespect to the dignity of his son.” Metcalf said at the time that he wanted to hear what was said and had not planned to make a statement.
Still, the account Alexander identified has not been independently confirmed as Metcalf's personal account, nor has the Aug. 21 message been independently authenticated. Metcalf has not publicly addressed Alexander's accusation.
Retired Judge Michael Chitty denied Anthony's request for another trial on Aug. 22. Anthony, now 19, was convicted of murder in June for fatally stabbing Austin during a confrontation beneath a team tent at the track meet and received a 35-year prison sentence.
Anthony maintained that he acted in self-defense, but jurors rejected that argument. His attorneys sought another trial partly over an informal agreement involving information about both teenagers that jurors did not hear during the original trial.
The message Alexander posted arrived one day before Chitty issued his ruling. Anthony's attorneys have said they plan to appeal his conviction.
