“Power Book III: Raising Kanan” returns to Southside Queens with gunfire, betrayal, and a mother still breathing after one of the series’ most explosive cliffhangers.

Season four ended with Kanan pointing a gun at his mother after learning she orchestrated the deaths of people closest to him. That final image left viewers suspended between revenge and hesitation while years of manipulation, secrecy, and bloodshed collapsed into a single confrontation.

New footage released by Starz confirms Raq survives the standoff, according to Variety. Upcoming episodes push the story deeper into distrust, retaliation, and the colder instincts longtime “Power” audiences already recognize inside Kanan.

Mekai Curtis returns alongside Patina Miller, whose portrayal of Raq has anchored much of the show’s emotional intensity since the series premiered in 2021. South Jamaica feels boxed in throughout the trailer as crews move through dim hallways, crowded sidewalks, and tense apartment meetings where nearly every conversation sounds seconds away from gunfire.

Gone is the uncertain teenager still trapped beneath his mother’s influence. His posture, voice, and choices reflect somebody learning how authority reshapes loyalty, fear, and ambition inside the streets surrounding him.

Breeze steps further into the picture as the young dealer attempts to climb higher inside the narcotics business. Their growing alliance threatens to fracture old loyalties throughout the neighborhood while widening the emotional distance between mother and son.

Raq enters the new episodes emotionally bruised but still dangerous. Rather than retreating, she appears determined to hold onto the empire she spent years building even as enemies multiply from every direction. Exchanges inside the family increasingly resemble negotiations between rivals instead of relatives trying to repair broken trust.

Joey Bada$$ returns as Unique after the character’s shocking reappearance late last year shifted street politics across Queens overnight. His survival reopened unfinished rivalries at a moment when nearly every major figure believed he was dead.

Brief flashes of humor still survive beneath the darkness. Loud music spills through packed house parties while younger hustlers chase money and status beneath neon lights, temporarily masking the paranoia spreading through every corner of the operation.

Earlier chapters balanced coming of age drama alongside ambition and family dysfunction. These closing episodes appear far colder, with exhaustion, suspicion, and quiet acceptance settling across nearly every face shown inside the trailer.

Starz has not announced an official premiere date for season five. By the closing seconds, family loyalty and old neighborhood codes appear almost worthless. Whoever pulls the trigger first may be the only person left standing.
