Pursuit across multiple counties ended in gunfire at a workplace parking lot, where a FedEx driver was killed after what investigators describe as a sustained and avoidable confrontation.
According to WFLX, the April 16 encounter began on the Florida Turnpike when Tyler Brandon Vidro, 24, pulled alongside a FedEx truck driven by Nathaniel Padgett and attempted to provoke a response. Padgett, who was traveling with his girlfriend, did not engage and continued toward a FedEx facility in Riviera Beach.
Authorities say Vidro followed the truck for miles, maintaining contact despite no escalation from Padgett. Surveillance and witness accounts indicate the pursuit extended onto FedEx property, where investigators say Vidro positioned himself and waited for Padgett to exit.
Investigators allege that when Padgett attempted to leave the facility, Vidro confronted him and accused him of damaging his vehicle. Padgett denied the claim and tried to disengage, moving toward his personal vehicle and attempting to leave the area. The affidavit states that Vidro continued to close distance and pursued him again.
Moments later, the situation turned deadly. Police say Padgett picked up a concrete block while denying any involvement in damage to Vidro’s car. Investigators noted there was no indication the object was used in a threatening manner before shots were fired. Vidro then discharged his weapon multiple times, striking Padgett seven times.
Padgett was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Evidence recovered at the scene and surveillance footage helped investigators reconstruct the sequence leading up to the shooting.
After leaving the area, Vidro contacted police from a nearby gas station and said he believed he had acted in self defense. Investigators determined the call came shortly after the shooting, and he was taken into custody soon after.
Authorities have charged Vidro with first degree murder and aggravated stalking. Investigators point to the sustained pursuit and presence on private property without authorization as central to the charges, noting that Padgett made repeated attempts to avoid confrontation.
The case has drawn attention to how quickly a roadside encounter can escalate when one party refuses to disengage. Law enforcement officials have emphasized that distance and restraint remain the most effective responses in similar situations.
Vidro remains in custody without bond as the case proceeds through the court system. A court appearance has been scheduled, though no trial date has been set.
Padgett’s workday never began. What started as a passing encounter on the road carried forward until there was no way out.

Some of "us" will never learn. You cannot play with these people. They have whiteness and the justice system on their side. You can't even retreat from these people without deadly consequences. Either you totally avoid them or shoot first.
