Stephen A. Smith used a recent SiriusXM broadcast to revisit a moment from a Netflix roast that lingered long after the crowd moved on.

Kevin Hart drew laughs after placing Smith on a fictional "Mount Rushmore of racism." Smith later said he was not present when it happened and only learned about the remark after clips from the event began circulating.

Speaking on "Straight Shooter with Stephen A," he acknowledged that roast culture comes with sharp shots and public embarrassment. What bothered him was seeing his name attached to a description he believes is inaccurate, according to Awful Announcing.

Part of the segment centered on his history. He pointed to years spent addressing matters affecting Black Americans and argued that many detractors overlook those positions while attaching assumptions to his name.

Politics surfaced soon after.

Television appearances that once stayed largely within sports now reach a far broader crowd. He argued that many people arrive with fixed opinions before hearing the full case being made.

No specific individuals entered the exchange. The subject shifted toward how quickly first impressions can solidify once an idea starts traveling across television, radio, and social platforms.

He also suggested that well known personalities rarely receive a meaningful chance to change those first impressions. A memorable punchline can become attached to someone's standing even when that person believes it paints an incomplete picture.

Smith noted that comedy often moves fast and audiences rarely stop to examine every detail behind a joke. Once a line lands, many people simply carry the impression with them.

Disappointment carried more weight than anger. The broadcast sounded less like a feud and more like a veteran broadcaster examining the lasting effect of a few seconds on stage.

Hart has not publicly addressed the remarks. While the roast crowd spent that night looking for the next laugh, one joke eventually resurfaced on national radio weeks later.
