"There's Only One 3" Ciara Perfectly Sums Up Russell Wilson's Retirement

Russell Wilson closed his NFL playing career Wednesday with a three minute farewell video and the words, "Thank You Football."

Retirement arrived through Wilson's social media accounts. Childhood highlights, college plays and professional milestones appeared throughout the video. According to Reuters, Wilson, 37, will join CBS Sports as an analyst on "The NFL Today."

Packed stadiums, championship celebrations and family snapshots filled much of the presentation. Parents, teammates and loved ones appeared throughout, linking early football ambitions with success earned at the highest level of the sport.

Ciara's comment quickly stood apart from thousands of responses.

"The best in the world. There's only one 3. Always so proud of you. It's a true blessing to go on this journey with you. My greatest inspiration. I love you so much," Ciara wrote beneath Wilson's farewell video.

Seattle remains tied to many of the quarterback's biggest victories. Chosen during the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Wilson earned the starting role and helped bring the Seahawks their first Super Bowl championship during the 2013 season.

Praise arrived from current players, former teammates and longtime fans. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes joined many others who publicly recognized what Wilson achieved during time in the league, offering congratulations after retirement became official.

Denver, Pittsburgh and New York brought new uniforms, coaching staffs and expectations. Each stop added a distinct stop in professional football while extending a run that crossed multiple teams.

Television now replaces huddles and game plans. CBS Sports plans to place Wilson behind a studio desk, allowing viewers to hear analysis each Sunday instead of watching passes leave Wilson's hand.

Numbers filled record books throughout Wilson's career. Family snapshots, childhood highlights and Ciara's words carried much of the farewell's emotional pull, placing personal bonds beside achievements earned throughout time spent playing professional football. Wilson's name remains connected to Seattle's championship history and a lengthy run as an NFL starter.
