HOUSTON, Texas — Boosie Badazz walked into a Harris County courtroom Monday carrying a message that sounded nothing like surrender. The Baton Rouge rapper dismissed an aggravated assault charge tied to a Houston nightclub encounter, calling the case a "money grab" while insisting there is more to the story than what appears in legal filings.

Hours before his court appearance became a headline, detectives were already outlining their version of what happened during the early morning hours of May 24. Authorities allege a security guard suffered a head injury during a confrontation that unfolded as a downtown nightclub prepared to close for the night.

Charging documents describe a dispute that began when a woman was escorted from the establishment after being told a restroom was no longer available, as reported by KHOU. Prosecutors allege the situation intensified moments later when the guard bent down to gather belongings that had fallen to the floor.

Detectives contend the guard was struck in the head with a glass hookah base. Medical treatment reportedly included eight staples, transforming what began as a late-night disturbance into a felony matter now moving through the Harris County court system.

According to investigators, a nearby witness heard glass break before spotting blood on the floor. That witness later identified Boosie while recounting the aftermath to authorities.

Another security employee reportedly told police he saw the rapper holding broken glass while shouting during the encounter. Those statements now form a key part of the accusation facing the Louisiana artist.

Boosie, whose legal name is Torrence Ivy Hatch Jr., has publicly rejected the allegations. Through social media, he characterized the accusation as financially motivated and signaled that he intends to challenge the account presented by authorities.

His attorney, William Van Buren, urged observers to reserve judgment while the defense reviews witness accounts and seeks surveillance footage connected to the nightclub encounter. The attorney argued that additional material still needs to be examined before conclusions are reached.

Meanwhile, the image presented in court looks dramatically different from the one Boosie has shared online. Prosecutors describe a violent encounter that left a security guard hospitalized, while the rapper continues to frame the accusation with the same phrase he has repeated from the start: money grab.
