Nick Cannon’s financial operations are now at the center of a federal fraud case after prosecutors accused a former accountant of secretly siphoning more than $2,000,000 from accounts connected to the entertainer over several years.

Federal investigators allege Frank Musoke used his role at a Beverly Hills management and tax firm to move money from accounts tied to Cannon between December 2019 and June 2023. Prosecutors claim Musoke had access to debit cards, account information, and personal identification numbers that allowed repeated withdrawals and transfers without immediate detection.

An eight page federal indictment filed in the case accuses Musoke of wire fraud and tax evasion tied to the alleged scheme, according to the United States Department of Justice. Court records state Musoke exploited financial access tied to his position inside the firm while handling accounts connected to Cannon’s business operations and personal finances.

Investigators allege the transfers continued for more than three years before irregularities in account activity triggered scrutiny from authorities. Federal prosecutors have not publicly detailed how the alleged misconduct was uncovered or whether additional individuals connected to the financial firm remain under investigation.

Wire fraud convictions can carry prison sentences of up to 20 years under federal law, while tax evasion charges could bring additional penalties if Musoke is convicted. Prosecutors have not announced whether he has entered a plea or secured defense representation.

Case details have renewed attention on financial vulnerability facing entertainers, athletes, and public figures whose business operations rely heavily on accountants, advisers, and management teams trusted with direct control over sensitive financial systems.

Large entertainment careers often involve payment structures spanning touring revenue, production income, licensing agreements, payroll systems, and business expenses moving across multiple accounts. That structure can create opportunities for misconduct when oversight becomes concentrated around a small group of financial gatekeepers.

Federal investigators continue reviewing account records and transaction histories connected to the alleged scheme as court proceedings move forward. Authorities have not disclosed whether prosecutors believe additional fraudulent activity occurred beyond the transactions outlined in the indictment.

Cannon has not publicly commented on the allegations. Over the past two decades, he has built a wide entertainment career spanning television, radio, comedy, production, and hosting roles, including long running work connected to “Wild ’N Out.”

Federal prosecutors now face the challenge of proving whether years of trusted financial access inside Cannon’s business operations became the foundation for a multimillion dollar fraud hidden behind routine account management.

I don’t understand how people get so close to their employees that they don’t keep up with their finances. $2M is a lot of money to let someone slick you for. My son just launched his clothing line and the first thing I told him to do is enroll in an accounting course next semester. It’s important to understand and control your finances. Nick should know better… he’s been in the game too long not to have been on top of this.
