Usher is expanding his focus beyond music and performance through a new internship initiative designed to give young adults direct experience inside live touring and concert production.

Program will operate through Usher’s nonprofit organization, Usher’s New Look, alongside the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Detroit. Ten interns are expected to participate in training tied to backstage operations, production support, wardrobe coordination, and live event preparation connected to major concert touring.

Internship program details were first reported by Billboard. Organizers said selected participants must be at least 18 years old and prepared to work inside fast paced environments where touring crews manage strict schedules, technical production demands, and travel logistics.

Training will introduce interns to areas of entertainment work often hidden from public view despite playing major roles in arena tours and live concerts. Participants are expected to learn how production teams coordinate stage preparation, artist support, timing schedules, equipment movement, and wardrobe management before performances begin.

Program arrives as attention continues building around Usher’s expected involvement in a major R and B touring run connected to Chris Brown. Industry observers expect strong ticket demand and large audiences surrounding the performances given both artists’ long standing commercial success and influence within contemporary R and B music.

Usher’s New Look has spent years developing youth leadership and mentorship programs aimed at helping young adults build professional skills outside traditional academic settings. Partnership with the Detroit based Boys and Girls Club expands that mission into live entertainment production and touring support.

Concert touring remains one of the entertainment industry’s most physically demanding business sectors, often requiring overnight travel, rapid venue changes, technical precision, and coordination between large teams working under intense time pressure. Entry level access to those environments can be difficult without direct industry connections.

Interns selected for the program are expected to gain firsthand exposure to how touring crews operate behind the scenes before audiences enter arenas and concert halls. Organizers said the experience is intended to help participants build practical knowledge supporting future careers across entertainment production, event management, styling, logistics, and live performance operations.

Usher has increasingly used his platform to invest in mentorship and career development efforts tied to entertainment, education, and leadership training. His latest initiative shifts attention toward workers and support systems responsible for keeping major tours operating smoothly across multiple cities.

Opportunity now places a small group of aspiring entertainment professionals inside an industry many people only experience from the crowd.
