The Mississippi Board of Nursing has dismissed a professional misconduct case against Christine Wells Wonsley, the mother of Nolan Wells, ending an investigation that began after an anonymous complaint was filed while she continued pressing for answers about her son's final hours. The case was closed after Wonsley publicly challenged the circumstances surrounding Nolan's death.
Wonsley shared the decision on Facebook, saying the complaint brought "more hurt" during one of the most painful periods of her life. She also reaffirmed her dedication to nursing, writing, "I love my job and I love my patients," before reminding supporters that Nolan's case remains active and asking, "What happened to Nolan?"
Earlier this week, attorney Ben Crump described the anonymous complaint as an effort to intimidate Wonsley and discourage her from continuing to seek the truth. He said she had cared for patients in Mississippi for years without a single complaint until she began publicly questioning the circumstances surrounding Nolan's disappearance.
"We will not let it stand," Crump said, arguing that no parent should have to defend a professional reputation while grieving the loss of a child. He also questioned the timing of the complaint, saying it surfaced only after Wonsley took leave from work to bury her son and began demanding a full accounting of what happened before Nolan was found dead.
Nolan Wells' body was discovered on Horn Island on July 6, two days after he disappeared during a Fourth of July outing with friends. The Mississippi medical examiner has not publicly released its autopsy findings, while an independent autopsy commissioned by the family produced inconclusive results, leaving the cause and manner of death officially undetermined.
Closing the nursing board case removes one obstacle for Wonsley, but it does not answer the question she has continued asking since Nolan disappeared. She and her legal team say they will keep pressing investigators for a complete explanation of the events that unfolded on Horn Island.

crackers gonna cracker!!!
People are so damn cruel and disappointing. The state should have seen pst the complaint and either immediately dismissed it, or investigated quietly. They knew this was an erroneous complaint against her. It’s a damn shame they had to be publicly shamed to do the right thing.
I am so glad Christine announced the board had dropped this anonymous complaint. It is no doubt it was a pale demon trying to mess up this woman's livelihood. God is Good!!
