Sean “Diddy” Combs is demanding jurors hear a $20 million civil case accusing him of coercive sexual conduct tied to a former male escort who says he entered the entertainer’s private circle in the late 2000s.
California federal records show the Bad Boy Records founder formally requested a jury trial while fighting accusations brought by Clayton Howard. Howard says he met Combs and singer Cassie around 2009 before becoming involved in recurring paid encounters linked to the pair across several years.
Howard alleges the hip hop figure used the alias “Frank Black” during some meetings while Cassie relied on different names to conceal her identity. Records also accuse Ceopco LLC and Bad Boy Entertainment LLC of participating in unlawful activity tied to those encounters.
Cassie is further accused of transmitting a sexually transmitted disease to Howard before later becoming pregnant and terminating the pregnancy without informing him beforehand, according to Rolling Stone. Howard has openly discussed the situation and said the experience pushed him toward studying law so he could better defend himself.
Combs remains incarcerated at Fort Dix while facing separate sex trafficking charges unrelated to Howard’s civil matter. Attorneys representing the Harlem born producer denied wrongdoing and signaled through recent submissions that they intend to aggressively challenge the accusations presented against him.
Public focus on the matter intensified because of overlapping accusations tied to celebrity influence, alleged exploitation, and mounting scrutiny involving the entertainer’s business empire. Several lawsuits and government inquiries tied to the music executive surfaced during the past year, placing renewed focus on both professional dealings and personal associations linked to his circle.
Howard’s filing adds another layer to widening troubles involving Combs and several people close to him. Defense lawyers are expected to challenge both Howard’s version of events and the timeline tied to many of the statements outlined in the filing.
No trial date has been scheduled in California federal court. With jurors now expected to hear the matter, both sides are preparing for a prolonged fight that could expose new details involving the arrangement Howard described in his filing.
